Using Fm3 For IEM - I Finally Have Glorious Stereo When Performing Live
Have you thought about using your FM3 for IEM (in-ear monitoring)? I have recently moved from Kemper and I now have an amazing-sounding stereo feed for my IEM mix. The FM3 has given me a much better live sound in my ears. It is also so much easier to control the IEM setup.

    Thank you for the tip!

It's important to note that if an audio track is not perfectly consistent during repeated sections, such as verses or choruses, or if it includes a "go to coda" in the score, syncing the score with the audio throughout will be unfeasible. This is because a performer may vary the timing slightly on repeated song sections. Therefore, even if the first verse is perfectly synced, subsequent repetitions may fall out of sync. A workaround is to create a new GP8 file without any repeats or "go to coda" sections in the score. The song should be written out completely from start to finish in an uninterrupted score. This approach may extend a 3-page score to 6 or 7 pages due to the absence of repeats. However, this method ensures that once completed, the score remains in sync throughout the performance, regardless of repeated sections. As of June 2024, GP8 does not offer the feature to mark audio sections according to the number of times they are played in the score. It would be beneficial if future updates included this feature. Until then, for songs with timing variations in repeated sections, the score must be laid out in a single, continuous sequence without repeats. You are welcome. 😋

Thank you for explaining this very important point. Repeated sections would certainly lead to inconsistencies with timing.

Guys-if you put a touch of alcohol in a cloth, wipe the strings hard pinching top & bottom w the alcohol, running the length of each string, zero gunk will build up, preserving the clean feel. I followed along with a file and I have a question : I have imported an audio track (Penny Lane from the Beatles) into an existing score to practice bass and in the audio track each bar has been divided in12 sections (11 vertical dotted lines between each bar). Not sure why as the time signature is 4:4. If I import the same audio file in a brand new brand sheet, each bar is divided in 4 sections. That sounds normal. I haven't figured out how to control this divisions. It looks that GP8 is doing the decision by itself based on something I haven't figured out. Any idea?

Interresting! I didn't expect to hear that big of a difference, and I really preferred the tone (in isolation) of the XS. The Elixirs sounded "harder", maybe a little "piezo"-like compared to the XS. BUT I'm not sure if I would have the same opinion in a thick mix. I think the hard attack of the Elixirs could help cutting through a bit, maybe. Or maybe not.. 😂 I'm an Elixir user most of the time - but they lack sets of some of the gauges I use, so I sometimes buy D'addario for some guitars, or buy single Elixir strings, which is expensive.. Curious to try the XS-series though! Thanks for the comparison!

Good to hear the comparison video was useful. Purchasing Elixir strings separately must be frustrating and as you said, expensive. All my recent string purchases have been Elixir. There are many more factors that change tone when playing live, so I have stuck with longevity when choosing the string type. I am interested to try XS strings on an acoustic guitar as Taylor has moved to recommending D'addario. I haven't been brave enough to try yet as I am very happy with the Elixirs and deciding to change strings just before rushing off to a gig is not the best time for that type of experiment.

ALWAYS let a fresh solder cool naturally. Do NOT blow on them.

@@PaulHillGuitarist This will cause the solder to cool too rapidly, leading to crystallization and embrittlement. At least this is the way I was taught, and it’s always stuck with me. 🤷‍♂️

With the D'Addario strings your shirt looks a lot darker. Other than that I couldn't really find a difference.
